  • On  5  December  2008  presentation  of  „The  Soviet  Story",  a  film   by  Edvins   Snore,  took   place  in  the Council of Europe's main building in Strasbourg.

The film projection was organised jointly by the Permanent Representations of Latvia, Poland and Ukraine at the Council of Europe.

The documentary film by the Latvian director tells the history of crimes committed by the Soviet Communist regime - from the Great Famine in Ukraine (1932/33), through the Katyń massacre (1940) and the Gestapo-KGB partnership until the Soviet mass deportations after the II World War and medical experiments on GULAG prisoners.

The works on the film lasted for more than 10 years.  Archival materials documenting the Communist crimes as well as interviews with victims of crimes, historians (among them Professor Norman Davis and Professor Wojcich Roszkowski) and members of the European Parliament were used in the film.

For more information on the film - see official website: http://www.sovietstory.com/.
