  • On 23rd May 2007 in the mayoralty of Strasbourg an official inauguration of an exposition entitled "Warsaw in Europe" took place. The exposition consecrated to the history of the Polish capital on the background of the European times was prepared by the capital town of Warsaw and by the Information Office of the Council of Europe in Warsaw.

    The exposition was officially inaugurated by the mayor of Strasbourg - Mrs. Fabienne Keller, the president of the Urban Community of Strasbourg - Mr. Robert Grossmann, the Secretary of the capital city of Warsaw - Mr. Adam Leszkiewicz and by the Representative Permanent of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe - Mr. Ambassador Piotr Świtalski.

    Among the invited guests, who participated in the ceremony of the exposition's opening, apart form the Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Mr. Ulrich Bohner, the ambassadors to the Council of Europe as well as the Polish deputies to the European Parliament inter alia Mr. Bronisław Geremek, Janusz Onyszkiewicz, Maciej Giertych, Czesław Siekierski were presented.

    A big reproduction of the painting "Constitution of the 3rd May" by Jan Matejko opens the exposure. The Warsaw's times placed in a detailed calendar are illustrated by the numerous reproductions of the various pictures, paintings, texts and photographs. The exhibits consecrated to the Warsaw Raising take a special place in the display. An impressive photography of the modern Warsaw closes the exposition.
