  •  On 9 October 2008 a conference "Napoleon and Poland" took place in the residence of the Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

    The conference was organized by the Association Souvenir Napoleonien d'Alsace, in cooperation with the Permanent Representation and the Consulate General of Poland in Strasbourg. It was held under the patronage of the Permanent Representative of Poland to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski who delivered a speech at the opening of the conference.  During the meeting Professor Maciej Serwański and Professor Tomasz Schramm from the Poznan University of A. Mickiewicz gave lectures on the historic relations between Napoleon and Poland.

    The conference formed part of the Fifteenth French-Polish colloquy organized jointly by the Strasburg University of M. Bloch and the Poznan University (9-10 October 2008). 

    The conference was attended by more than 100 persons, among them members of the Association Souvenir Napoleonien d'Alsace, students from the M. Bloch University in Strasburg, representatives of Polonia and officials from the Council of Europe Secretariat.
