  •  On 15th October 2008 an official inauguration of an exposition entitled "A Commonwealth of Diverse Cultures. Poland's Heritage" took place in the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Secretariat General of the Council of Europe, ambassadors - permanent  representatives of Member States of the Council of Europe as well as pupils from the Polish school in Strasbourg.

     "A Commonwealth of Diverse Cultures. Poland's Heritage" is an international multi-media educational exhibition which presents the history of tolerance and cohabitation of various ethnic groups in the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and is addressed primarily to foreigners all around the world. The project was realised by the National Library of Poland in cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In celebrating the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, the National Library was looking to present Poland's multicultural tradition to the international public.

    The National Library of Poland houses priceless cultural treasures that define Poland's national heritage. The exhibition presents following collections: Eastern Borderlands, Italian, German, French, Lithuanian, Armenian, Jewish and Islamic. An interview with Professor Norman Davis also forms part of this exhibition.

    The exposition was presented until 24th of October 2008.
