     On 25 November 2009, the 18th Polish Film Festival (18ème Quinzaine du Cinéma Polonais) was launched in Strasbourg. The Festival was organised by the Odyssée  Cinema in cooperation with the Film Studio TOR, Polish Film Art Institute and the Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe.

     

    The Festival is the only periodical event promoting the Polish cinematography in France and it has been organised for 18 years. Thanks to this initiative, the public  in Strasboug has had an opportunity to see more than 165 Polish films. 

     

    This year's Festival was inaugurated by the presentation of the „The Offsiders" (Boisko bezdomnych) by Kasia Adamik. The Festival was opened by Ambassador Piotr A. Świtalski and by Mr Faruk Gunaltay, Director of the Odyssée Cinema. Along with the representatives of the Polonia and Polish members of the Council of Europe staff, the representatives of the diplomatic corps were among the invited guests at the event. 

     

    In the framework of the Festival, which lasted until 8 December, the following films were presented in the Odyssée Cinema: 

     

    - „The Offsiders" (Boisko bezdomnych) by Kasia Adamik, 2008

    - „Splinters" (Drzazgi) by Maciej Pieprzyca, 2008

    - „Katyń" by Andrzej Wajda, 2007

    - „All will be well" (Wszystko będzie dobrze) by Tomasz Wiszniewski, 2007

    - „Retrieval" (Z odzysku) by Sławomir Fabicki, 2006

    - „The wedding" (Wesele) by Wojciech Smarzowski, 2004

    - „The Orchestra Conductor" (Dyrygent) by Andrzej Wajda, 1979.
